Gov. Jindal slams FEMA and Obama administration over slow response to Hurricane Isaac requests

Governor Bobby Jindal (R-La.) took to Twitter to rightly slam FEMA and the Obama administration over their slow responses to Hurricane Isaac-related requests.

Heck of a job, Barry. A reality check of Obama’s self-stroking during his statement on Isaac. Before hitting the campaign trail, natch.

Twitchy will monitor this situation and update with any developments.

Citizens react on Twitter.

Update: Governor Jindal is continuing to update citizens via his Twitter account.

Yes. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are in the path of Isaac, which has now been upgraded to a hurricane.

  • Rdm42

Documenting the federal lack of response. Good.

    • SJ’s Dad

Every RED State Governor should be taking notes!
      Well played Gov. Jindal!

  • The Monster

Any problems with Isaac will be blamed on Jindal, unlike the Katrina problems that somehow were Bush’s fault, despite Blanco and Nagin screwing up by the numbers.

  • Wigglesworth111

At least LA has a competent governor this time.

    • TomJB

What the…? A state’s GOVERNOR is supposed to take the lead when dealing with issues in their state? Really?

      • Maria

Yes. That is why so many lost their lives in Katrina. Their Governor didn’t take the lead.

        • TomJB

Di Ann, I was being sarcastic. Its tough to tell online… I’m totally with you on the Governor, and the mayor of NO as well.

    • ckmarti

Like I said, that’s because they don’t have Mr. ”Chocolate City” there anymore!

  • Tim Hollingsworth

After all of the new gates, walls, and pumps work this time, will Pres. Bush get the deserved credit for rebuilding it??? Of course not!

    • ckmarti

Of course not! At least not with the msm — but we all know better. As long as we ignore them, the smarter off we’ll be.

  • Annie Sezso

Blowing Barry’s cover. I love it.

  • weRbroke

Sweet, LA Gov is TWEETING it AS IT HAPPENS instead of waiting for the MEDIA to spin dry the news. Screw the MSM, let the peeps on the ground bring us the REAL news.

  • Joe Robinson

is this the same Jindal that want’s less government involvement?

make up your mind you POS.

    • weRbroke

What’s the matter, you don’t like Governors that mind their budgets? Those fed funds came with some huge strings that included funding pet unions and increasing public dependancy on FED redistribution.

    • TomJB

Do you not see a difference between a governor asking the federal government for some assistance when a disaster is too big for their resources, and the federal government just doing what it wants wherever it wants?

      • ckmarti

Apparently not Tom, Joe is another idiot liberal.

    • ckmarti

In times of imminent disaster, He’s supposed to ask the President for aid, dumbass! It’s not for political reasons, it’s for the people of his state.

    • Maria

Are you serious? LOL He’s saving lives. Something Democrats obviously hate.

    • Penny Robinson Fan Club

No, you make up your mind.

    • Tom

      You are one nasty POS.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Typical lib. When we don’t need the government, they are there, forcing their way in. When we do, all there is are tumbleweeds and crickets. Moron.

One other thing… any assistance required comes from money paid to the gov’t from the taxpayers. The Federal Government doesn’t make money on their own. Derp.

  • John Wehrle

    Kanye West’s response in 3…2…1…

    • ckmarti

Ahahaha of course he’ll give the glory to O but not without grabbing some for himself!

  • TomJB

Ask TN how FEMA under this administration reacts to disasters in “red” states. Flooding there got essentially ignored.

    • weRbroke

I had friends in the Ice Storm of 2009. Oblamo’s first real test of his presidency. Ask the locals what it was like to be without for days before FEMA showed up with some tainted PB and a couple generators. Thankfully, the locals didn’t suffer overmuch and since they are in flyover country, it’s clear that it didn’t MATTER how long the Feds took to help.

  • West_Coast

Many people died because of ‘Chocolate City’ mayor Ray Nagin and their incompetent ex-governor Blanco. Of course, they received a pass because of their party affiliation and the conspiracy theories that were perpetuated by race hustlers and the MSM.

Thank God for the competence of Bobby Jindal & Mitchell Landrieu

    • Terry in GA

Where is that picture of the floating buses? @michellemalkin

  • ronwf

See, the point is that the Feds, regardless of who is President, won’t act until the Governor of a State asks them to do so. If the Governor doesn’t ask, the President doesn’t act. When Katrina hit, these things didn’t get done by the then-Governor.

    • Maria

Oh but of course it’s always Bush’s fault. Democrats don’t know how the government works, all they know is they get free stuff from it.

  • Right Wired

It’s obvious, isn’t it? Barack Obama doesn’t care about black people.

    • Maria

      Or anyone else but Barry.

  • Jon

Obama in 2008: “Thank Allah I didn’t have to handle Katrina!” Obama today: “doh!”

  • Terry in GA

@BobbyJindal On top of things — from Day One. Gov. Jindal doing a great job.

  • LissaKay

    Fill in the blank –
Katrina: Bush begs LA governor to allow him to activate NG. Delays are HIS fault.
Isaac: Jindal begs Obama to activate NG. Delays are _____ fault.

Pretty rich coming from the party of this:

  • S. A. Hill

This is another #Republican tactic to paint the POTUS
in a negative light. Do any of you, who’ve made derogatory remarks and
some downright ignorant remarks, know that difference between what he declared
and what Govenor Jindal supposedly “Slamed FEMA for?” Well he really didn’t “Slam FEMA,” but he is
trying to make this political and its’ really about the people of the “Gulf
Coast,” not his political aspirations. #FAIL Any, if you don’t know the
difference, how can you automatically jump to the conclusion that some “Fishy”
is going on. #Conservatives please read
do some research on your own; think for yourselves & stop being duped by
these panders of division. Here is what #OBAMA authorized … ” FEMA is
authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and
resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency
protective measures limited to direct federal assistance will be provided at 75
percent federal funding. ”The 100% that the Governor wants
is usually determined if it is known beforehand that the storm will have such a
devastating impact that the States will not be able to sustain the efforts to
ensure lives are saved, clean-up, etc… or it’s declared afterwards when these
issues have been fully determined. In
the latter, the only difference is the authorization of 100% assistance.

Now let’s sparse out the Truth from the misdirection:

    “@BobbyJindal – ction:

he Truth from teh eh sues
have been fully determined. in eithm
will have such a devastating impact that teh g to:However,
the limited declaration does not provide for reimbursement of expenses that the
state is taking to prepare for the storm.” It’s not necessary because: 1) Under
the POTUS declaration, the Fed pays 75% and the State pays 25% (wouldn’t be
wanting a “Hand Out” would be Gov. Jindal or “Welfare?” I’m sure you can cover
    25% of a cost

    “@BobbyJindal – We sent a
letter yesterday to the President requesting a full declaration.” Well full
declaration is usually given beforehand, unless, as I point out earlier, it is
certain, and known beforehand, that the
    damage from
the storm will have such a devastating impact that the States will not be able
to sustain the efforts to ensure lives are saved, clean-up, etc… So this is
    another Political Game.

    “@BobbyJindal -s another Political Game.

    ich t

    he POTUS declaration, the
Fed pays 75% and the State pays 25% (wouldn’We have learned from past
experiences that you cannot wait and you have to push the federal bureaucracy.”
Political ploy, because he knows the POTUS can move expeditiously, without
bureaucracy, if a 100% declaration is necessary. And, it will not hold up or hinder relief efforts.
Basically it will be reimbursing the State of Louisiana the 25% they would be
responsible for if it is determined ….(as I stated earlier)

“@BobbyJindal – We think it’s important to be aggressive and do
everything we can to protect our people and our property.” Again,
    political gamesmanship. The POTUS has
already done that by signing the Louisiana Emergency Declaration. Nuff said. I could go on, but it’s obvious Governor
    Jindal is being disingenuous.

Or realizing that he’s not on Twitter with all the hashtags.

“Sparse out the truth”? You mean parse…

I also don’t see the point of declaring the emergency BEFORE the emergency happens. Who thought that brilliant idea up?

  • fivestring_assassin

Obamas response to the BP oil spill and the Colorado wildfire was horrible
    Expect the same here

  • Armando

Message to Republican Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana: stop asking for federal aid. Republicans believe in personal responsibility and in people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. In addition, Republicans believe in smaller, less intrusive government. Stop intruding into people’s lives and demanding the government’s help. Tell the federal government to get out of people’s lives. If your constituents are floating in a tire down Bourbon Street later this week, it’s their own fault. Right?

    • J. Cox

And your response is the exact reason your party is the do nothing/blame everyone else gang.Must be nice to rewrite history leaving out the real villains and inserting your own to suit your needs.

      • Armando

That was just satire of the absurdity of the republicans: Under the leadership of president Obama we will not have a repeat of Katrina.

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

          Too late?

  • Mini14’sBlkStrat

The problem nagan and blanco had durring Katrina was that no one told them what to do. It was lightyears beyond them to think about taking action on their own.
With Jindal & Landrieu taking charge there’s a good chance it will turn out well.

  • John Hanover

Just read the Wikipedia on Gov. Jindal, he can still maintain his leadership and see quality people regardless of party affiliation and here he is using a big stick to prod the all-knowing and all seeing Obama into action. We need more leaders like him.

  • JoeMyGod

I bet Jindal regrets refusing all that federal dough NOW.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

      You mean taxpayer’s dough?

  • Mike Dry

Is Jindal serious, or is he just an idiot-I think idiot

  • conservativechick
