Media decide no ‘national dialogue’ on civility needed after FRC shooting; WaPo calls it a ‘scuffle,’ ideology ignored; Update: Media embargoes shooting

According to the lapdog media, it seems. Evidently, there is no need for a “national dialogue” on civility and tolerance, if it’s just icky old Conservatives being harmed.

Even before a shooting suspect is identified, the press usually rush not only to judge, but to “Blame Righty.” Politicians do it as well: Mayor Bloomberg, upon the announcement that there was a car-bomb found in Times Square, rushed to say that it was probably “somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. ” Because, that’s what most car-bombers are, natch.

They generally shriek about “new tone” and “civility,” while trying to paint the Right as dangerous extremists, consisting of “hate groups.” The tolerance tyrants preach anti-“hate,” while being full of hate themselves. The shooting that occurred at the Family Research Council yesterday is further exposing this. And the media should be ashamed.

After first trying to sweep the news under their lapdog rugs, they then moved onto trying to spin it all away.

From The Washington Post news item:

Family Research Council security guard shot

A security guard a was shot and wounded after a scuffle with a man who expressed disagreement with the group’s conservative views.

Huh. Kind of like how Politico called SWAT-ting, a potentially deadly form of political terrorism, “an elaborate practical joke.” It’s totally hilarious when conservatives are put in harm’s way. What’s a little scuffle? It was simply a disagreement and stuff!

The intrepid Ace of Spades, and other outraged citizens on Twitter, lay it all out for anyone who still believes that the media is unbiased.

And where are the “lessons to be learned”?

Yes. “Hateful,” “intolerant” Christians are sending love and prayers … even to the suspected shooter. You won’t hear that in the media, though.

Members of the media are trying to sweep aside the political ideology of the suspected shooter as well. Oh, he just disagreed with that hate group-y FRC. While carrying in Chick-fil-A sandwiches. Oh, yeah, and he also volunteered at an LGBT organization. Perhaps that is where he learned that FRC employees work at a “hate group” and are, therefore, not really people and don’t count?

Gee, wasn’t Chick-fil-A just in the Left’s (and media’s) crosshairs as well? With vandalism and bomb threats. The Left still, even after the shooting, continues to try to excuse their dangerous and irresponsible use of “hate group.”

But where is the media?

Outrageous double standards.

Today during his press conference on the FRC shooting yesterday, Tony Perkins said that the shooter was responsible, but that rhetoric used by outlets like Southern Poverty Law Center gave him license. He said he offered to debate the use of labels like “hate group” with SPLC, and they declined. Why won’t they discuss it?

And why won’t the media?

If anyone needs a Teachable Moment ™, they do.

Update: True to form.

Embargoing continues. Nothing to see here, move along. It’s just hate incited by tolerance tyrants against icky conservatives.

More from Ace of Spades:

Chris Matthews, of course, did not cover the story at all. I assume he is on the “pro” side of murdering Republicans, because he used to rage quite insanely if someone so much as criticized Obama. That, he contended, could lead to political violence.

Well here is actual political violence, and he’s apparently okay with it. Not even worth a mention.

  • nc

MSM yawns, equivocates or makes excuses. Even though it’s as predicable as the sun rising, it doesn’t make it easier to take.

  • JeffWRidge

Maybe Corkin didn’t intend to shoot anyone. Maybe he was going to hold everyone at gunpoint and make them watch as he ate 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, while refusing to let them have a taste.

  • Garth Haycock

Is anyone really surprised that the MSM is ignoring this? Their job is to be Obama sycophants.

    • Garth Haycock

“A security guard a was shot and wounded after a scuffle with a man who expressed disagreement with the group’s conservative views.”

My name is Barak Obama and I approve of this news report.

    • Heather Thornton Wiles

I didn’t exactly see Faux News jump all over this, and they are DEFINATELY a conservative right leaning media outlet. What about all the other shootings that happened besides this one, that no one is talking about? Why aren’t you people throwing a hissy fit over them not being talked about as much? Just this one because it happened at the fraudulent organization, FRC? Shame on you and your Faux news for not having more open dialogue about those.

      • QuadGMoto

Yes, there are complaints about Fox News’ behavior too.

At least they didn’t bury it completely like the other “news” sources, even if their coverage was completely underwhelming.

      • weRbroke

Is that “free” birth control is worth towing that D-onkey cart for the party.

      • Tim Taylor

That’s not the point. The fact is that it WAS covered and called a “scuffle” by a one sided liberal media. Fox didn’t say that it was a “scuffle”. It got the amount of attention it got, the amount of coverage isn’t the issue. Try to keep up here, or are “US people” not clear enough for you Heather Thornton Wiles. Shame on you for supporting such hypocricy!

  • Armando

Why is the shooter identified as “leftist”?

    • Penny Robinson Fan Club

      Try reading the stories.

  • michael s

is this not the reason fox news, conservative talk radio hot air breitbart this website was created? so this event could have a large flow of info related to this. community organize this story like you did with the tea party.

  • Shawn Smith

Did anyone tell Dan “wish they were all dead” Savage? I’m sure he’d love to give this guy a congratulatory phone call. Or perhaps he’d chew him out for not being very effective.

  • Heather Thornton Wiles

I have seen a lot of dialogue about the shooting. Including from anti-gun violence groups. It does not matter WHO was shot by WHOM…gun violence is wrong, and there needs to be more restrictions on auto and semi-automatic weapons, along with the amount a ammo one person can purchase.

    • QuadGMoto

Ah, the assurances of someone who has no clue about the lessons of history.

    • weRbroke

Do you have ANY CLUE how many laws already govern guns? Across the nation there are about 35,000 all the way down to individual towns making “rules”.

    • TugboatPhil

Wow! Maybe D.C. should pass some gun control laws! They should even make shooting someone a crime.

    • robcrawford2

Heather, there needs to be more restrictions on who can speak in public — starting with you. Your ignorance is astounding, and your willingness to punish the innocent for someone else’s crime is breath-taking.

You don’t like the 2nd Amendment? Fine — Canada is due north. Have a ball.

      • retssgusa

You beat me to it Rob! Way to go!

    • Liz

Checked out your FB page Heather.

Why does Romney keep promising things he can’t deliver…

I imagine it is the same reason that President Obama does it. To get elected!!! Please learn to use the brain that God gave you and stop spouting HuffPo talking points. It really isn’t that difficult, it just takes practice!!!

    • Rob Jones

Discussing gun control with a bozo that doesn’t know the average man cant buy an automatic weapon is like arguing abortion with someone that thinks babies are delivered by the stork.

    • AaronHarrisinAlaska

DC has the strictest laws in the nation. Obviously they don’t work very well. Adding more is a waiste of time and money

    • Jeffrey Thomas Browning

@Heather Thornton Wiles, you do realize that you cannot be much more restrictive on gun ownership and possession than D.C.

    • Tim Taylor

Yea! because no one can stock up on ammo! That will work. And we all know that all criminals will strictly adhere to the “restrictions”. Man, you should be the President of smart people! And yes I guess it doesn’t matter who was shot by whom…unless you happen to be the who. Go post your jibberish on a lib page where no one has any common sense. We don’t live in your make-believe world.

  • JoeMyGod

In addition to spreading lies that all gay people are inherently
mentally ill child molesters, FRC head Tony Perkins paid former Ku Klux
Klan Grand Wizard David Duke $82,600 for access to his mailing list.
While a Louisiana state rep, Perkins twice keynoted the convention of
the White Citizens Council, which lists their opposition to “race
mixing” on their “statement of principles. The SPLC does not consider
an opposition to same-sex marriage as a criteria for naming hate groups,
otherwise there would be thousands of groups listed, not just the 37.

    • QuadGMoto

You lie. It’s just that simple.

First, the “quotes” the SPLC to “prove” that FRC is a hate group are about homosexuality, not racism. (I’m not going to give them the link. You can check for yourself.)

Second, they lie about what was actually said by stripping important parts of their “quotes”. Here’s an example of what Tony Perkins actually said. The parts in bold are what the SPLC stripped to make it sound like your first lie:

“The outrage from homosexuals is partly self-defense. After all, the Church reported that ‘two-thirds of the incidents of abuse of adolescents by priests involved homosexual priests.’ While activists like to claim that pedophilia is a completely distinct orientation from homosexuality, evidence shows a disproportionate overlap between the two. About a third of all child sex abuse cases involve men molesting boys–and in one study, 86% of such men identified themselves as homosexual or bisexual. Try as they might, gays and lesbians can’t shrug off the link. This is a homosexual problem.”

Third, here is a link to more information about what was really going on. It includes a link to the actual study cited by Perkins.

Given your obvious lies, I’m not even going to bother checking your other claims.

      • JoeMyGod

Every single item in my above comment is factual. Use your Google Machine, you appear to have access to one. If you don’t want to believe Perkins’ history with racist groups, you are on the right site.

        • Rob Jones

JoeMyGod – As Abraham Lincoln said… “If it’s on the internet it must be true”. Keep up the great work, and don’t let ANYone tell you that you aren’t “special”.

          • JoeMyGod

Here’s a link to a PHOTO of Perkins speaking before Louisiana’s white supremacy

          • JannyMae

Your link doesn’t work. Why don’t you just give up and stop the lies? You’re posting “facts” from wikipedia that are “documented” by far left websites.

          • JoeMyGod
          • Rob Jones

Gosh JoeMyGod – Your amazing persuasive powers have convinced me that taking a gun in to shoot up the FRC was not a crime, it was just a vigilant pursuit of justice. Thanks

*** [Jesus… I told the guys he could chew thru leather straps and get to the keyboard, but nobody listens to me.]

          • JoeMyGod

“Far-left” websites including several of Louisiana’s VERY conservative daily newspapers? The story about Perkins’ affiliations with racists groups was daily fodder there during the 1996 election and ended the U.S. Senate campaign for Woody Jenkins, whose bid Perkins was managing. Perkins was fined $82,500 by the Louisiana Elections Commission for lying on his campaign expenditures disclosure form by hiding his payment to KKK Grand Wizard David Duke.

          • JannyMae

You keep repeating that but there is no documentation for it, other than your claims and those of the SPLC. Linking to your own blog with you making the same claims with the same dubious sources doesn’t cut it. You’re obviously a liar, but even if it’s true, it’s irrelevant to this situation.

I will not respond to you further. It’s a waste of time and energy.

          • JoeMyGod

If you believe that Louisana’s major daily and VERY conservative newspapers are “dubious” and if you don’t believe an actual PHOTO of Perkins standing at the lectern of a white supremacist group, then you are on the right site.

          • JannyMae

What major Louisiana daily newspaper? A supposed picture with no date on it, lifted from God knows where, and a link to the SPLC website? Yeah that’s credible. You’ll believe anything the race baiters tell you. Go away.

          • Guest

Give it up, kid. No one’s falling for it.

          • JoeMyGod

Here’s a PDF of the Federal Elections Commission ruling that Perkins violated state law when he failed to disclose his payment to KKK Grand Wizard David Duke.

          • Spooner505333

You mean the same Grand Wizard who endorsed Charles Barron and has Jeremiah Wrong’s approval. STFU you racist hypocrite[Your comments on Herman Cain.]

      • JoeMyGod
    • Liz

Joe, until a few years ago homosexuality was considered a mental illness by the medical doctors and psychologists. Did that make them haters?

      • JoeMyGod

Is 1973 a “few years ago”?

        • Liz

I apologize. I didn’t realize that it had been that long ago, but the question still remains the same. Did that make them haters?

          • JoeMyGod

There had been almost no unbiased research into homosexuality prior to then, other than Kinsey’s surveys which all sides have problems with today.

          • Spooner505333

You accuse Tony Perkins of racism for standing by David Duke but justify Charles Barron and David Duke’s unholy brotherhood which is it chump is David Duke racist or not?

        • Rob Jones

Joe – Trolling isnt very vice-presidential… shouldn’t you be telling Virginians that with their help you can win North Carolina?

    • Spooner505333

Isn’t it ironic that an idiot who calls Herman Cain a race traitor calls Perkins a racist.

    • Tim Taylor

      ^^ All lies.

  • TugboatPhil

As little coverage as this is getting, you’d think an Islamist terrorist had infiltrated the Army Medical Corps, gone into a processing center on a major base and killed and injured many Soldiers. Of course, if something like that had happened, we’d still be reading about it.

    • JoeMyGod

And by “little coverage” you be must referring to CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and every major newspaper in the country, right? CNN alone has covered the story 62 times already according to Mediaite.

      • TugboatPhil

Where is the story since the President ruled it not to be terrorism by a Muslim and “workplace violence” instead?

        • JoeMyGod

Well, nowhere. Since the president never said that.

          • Rob Jones

Pssst – his little dog Eric at the DOJ did.

  • Rob Jones

Wait, are we overlooking the possibility that his hate was caused by exposure to Chick-fil-a sandwiches? There may still be a way to blame this on the RIGHT people so to speak.

  • Tanker74

I hope Corkins the Porkins’s Southern Poverty Lawless Center-inspired act of homosexual terrorism results in a stiff sentence for him and movement by the federal government to clamp down on homosexual terrorism and terror instigators like the SPLC.

  • SandyandTony Kolke

….. Mr. Scuffle~pants???? Sorry, but I laughed so hard over that description that I cried! Kudos sir!

  • Madley

This is just ridiculous whining. Aurora Shooting on July 20th. 70 people shot, 12 fatally. August 5th Sikh Temple shooting 10 people shot 6 fatally. August 13 Texas A&M 3 people shot fatally including one cop buy a guy being evicted.

Fortunately here the building security guard stopped the guy before it became a mass shooting and mass murder. Now if that happened you would have got your “corporate media” coverage.

Thirty thousand people a year die from gunshot wounds a year and you idiots are crying that an incident in which nobody died didn’t get enough news coverage for you?

Seriously WTF is wrong with you people.

  • Jason

Here’s what you can do to counter this level of left wing B.S.: STOP WATCHING LEFT WING MEDIA. Get. Your news from better sources. Encourage others to do the same. The most painful harm you can inflict on the liberals, is to take away their political power. Remove the bias voice the left wing media has, and then they’ll start listening.

  • tjp77

In ten years the FRC shooter will be a tenured professor at the University of Illinois and probably babysitting Obama’s grandkids.

  • JoeMyGod

Here’s a PDF of the Federal Elections Commission fining FRC president Tony Perkins for attempting the cloak his $82,500 payment to former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke. If the FRC thinks that doesn’t constitute “hate” then maybe I understand Christianity better than they think I do.

    • JoeMyGod

      And….crickets. #LOLteabaggers.

    • QuadGMoto

Yep, as I suspected, another lie.

Tony Perkins was the manager of the 1996 U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Woody Jenkins in Louisiana where Impact Media was contracted to make pre-recorded telephone calls for the campaign. In 1999, an unrelated federal investigation uncovered that David Duke had a financial interest in the company, which he did not report to the IRS, resulting in his conviction on federal tax evasion charges. This connection was not known to Mr. Perkins until 1999. Mr. Perkins profoundly opposes the racial views of Mr. Duke and was profoundly grieved to learn that Duke was a party to the company that had done work for the 1996 campaign.

It does not appear that any mailing list was bought at all; rather, a contract was given to Duke’s company to make phone calls on their behalf. And the $82,500 figure that Blumenthal uses was not any fee paid to Duke but was the figure that the FEC said would be the usual fine for the violation of FEC regulations in the case (though they settled for only $3000).

Is it possible that Perkins did not know that? Yes. Joe Carter tells me that Perkins did not know it at the time and also says that Woody Jenkins has confirmed that he never told Perkins that Impact Mail was Duke’s company when he instructed him to sign the contract with them. I have no reason not to believe Carter; we may disagree on virtually everything, but I have never known him to not be honorable and honest. I have no doubt that this is exactly what Perkins has told him.

Once again, you’ve been caught in a clear lie. This time I caught you using your own link. Why don’t you try learning what the truth is, then you won’t be embarrassed every time you post more stupid lies like this.

      • JoeMyGod

Fortunately for the rest of society, the Federal Elections Commission doesn’t care about the opinions of bloggers. And I presume you’ve got nothing to say about Perkins’ speaking before the white supremacist group that denounces “race mixing”…..

        • Spooner505333

Um weren’t you given a link that exposed Perkin’s horror at such racist comments guess not since you defended Duke and Barron’s friendship.

        • QuadGMoto

Congratulations. Not only have you reaffirmed that you’re a liar and a prejudiced bigot, you’ve now demonstrated that you’re also illiterate.

The document the “just a blogger” compared SPLC’s claims (and yours!) to was the Exact. Same. FEC. Document. YOU. Linked. To! The SPLC (and your) claims directly contradict that document. (No mailing list purchased; the amount in the document is the standard fine, not what was spent.) In fact, it helps support Tony Perkins’ claims because what triggered the investigation was the discovery that David Duke was hiding his involvement in that company. Remember, this is the document you linked to.

I find it absolutely fascinating how guys like you can claim to hate groups like the KKK, Storm Front, and New Black Panthers, yet you use precisely the same type of “reasoning” to justify your own hatred.

  • Hal Fast

Where are all the left wing wack nut jobs trying to justify this one? I’m dumbfounded!?

  • Shawn Smith

We need to organize a massive call-in, e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, smoke signal, carrier pigeon, whatever you have campaign against these news organizations. Ideally we would devote a single day to each one. Day one NBC, two, CBS, three, CNN, etc.

This needs to be at least two weeks from now to give time to get the word out and we need a clear plan. Ideally we need to get someone with a big megaphone (e.g. Huckabee, Limbaugh) to publicize this plan.

If this is done, every person involved needs to be polite and civil, but absolutely clear on the outrage of their silence.

    Is anyone with me?

    • nc

You assume they actually CARE what the American people think of them. Ha ha! If they did they would have done something about their steadily declining ratings, or looked at the increasing success of Fox News and made adjustments. No, they’ve gotten steadily worse because they are no longer journalists but blatant propagandists.

      • Shawn Smith

I don’t know if they care about us, but they would damn sure notice if their switchboards and e-mail servers were absolutely shut down because of the sheer volume of people calling them out on what they have done.

  • Spooner505333

Will JoeMyGod just come out and admit he admires Robert Byrd?

  • Andrew C Eden-Balfour

So I’m guessing there’s no room for outrage that three men fire-bombed a gay bar in Salt Lake City?

    • QuadGMoto

We have to hear about it before we can condemn it. So where else has it been mentioned than that local news site?

And yes, what those idiots did was wrong.

Who put that sniper sight on
    FRC ?

  • Shawn Smith

If the people at NPR, NBC, etc. get their way and homosexual “marriage” is legal in all fifty states and no one is allowed to say anything even remotely unpleasant about anyone who is black, or female, or homosexual (btw, you’d have to bow down in worship before a black lesbian), I hope they’re happy, because they’ve made a deal with Satan to get themselves there.

I don’t know what the price is or when he’ll come to collect, but that day will come. And to any lib-tards out there who can’t tell the difference, this is not a threat of violence. I abhor the tactics you condone. Consider this a warning, maybe a prophecy.
