It’s been more than three weeks since President Obama said to small business owners, “You didn’t build that,” and nearly as long that he’s been trying to unsay it. The TV commercials that claimed the quote was taken out of context haven’t made the words go away, so the White House is reaching out to small business owners to make the case the president just can’t seem to make.
We asked small business owners to write in about why they support President Obama—here are just a few of their responses.—

If you're a small business owner for Obama, write a letter to share why you've got the President's back: OFA.BO/MN2L8P—

@BarackObama let him do something for me first. Had his back in 08. He bailed out banks and auto and left everyone else hung out to dry—

We don’t know what small business Rachael didn’t build.
@BarackObama Rachael will feel differently when all the Obmatax taxes hit her 'small business" so whats the name of Rachaels company?—

@BarackObama Yes, Rachael we do owe something. I plan on giving it to my community, not my government.—

The letters are pouring in now. Meet Norman and Rodger.
"America prospers when we're all in it together, and President Obama knows that."—Norman, a small business owner from Juno Beach, FL—
Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 06, 2012
@BarackObama you should let Norman know that we all realize that's a high school musical quote. He's not fooling anyone.—

"Small business owners can't afford the failed policies of the past. And Americans can't afford a Romney presidency." —Rodger, Santa Monica—

@BarackObama With Cass Sunstein's departure, perhaps it's time to consider someone with a business background who could help small business.—

Maybe we could save space by creating a composite small business owner. How are Julia and her graphic design business doing, anyway?
