Second Amendment fan Ice-T not a fan of 'racist' Rush Limbaugh

Rapper, actor and reality TV star Ice-T picked up quite a few conservative fans yesterday with his insightful comments on the Second Amendment. But a mention by Rush Limbaugh today has Ice-T feeling not so sweet.

Was Ice-T tuning in to Limbaugh as usual or did he catch the news second-hand?

For the record, here’s the transcript as it appears on Limbaugh’s site:

So here’s this sophisticate from the UK’s Eyeball News Channel 4, and there’s Ice-T saying the only reason we got guns in America is “to protect yourself from the police.”  (laughing)  Well, we’re told, “Hey, it’s cultural. We gotta understand it from the cultural standpoint. That’s where Mr. T’s coming from.” (interruption) Yeah, he did. He knew the word “tyranny.”  He knew the word “tyranny,” and he knows that tyranny comes from government representatives.  Double impressive.  Tyranny doesn’t come from media figures, or actors.

In any case, Ice-T tweets that he’s glad to be making waves.

Rush a racist? Tell me another lie, Mr. rapper man.

  • b_truit

So he knows what tyranny is… I’d like to sit down and actually find out how much he actually knows. This “cop killer” talks in Ebonics for most of his songs and rhymes words that do not really rhyme. Did he really expect anyone to think you knew the definition?

  • Adam Wiener

Making waves is always a good thing. And, i did think Rush sounded offensive in the way he regarded Ice-Ts comments this morning, but not necessarily racist…

  • Anita Whitley

Truth is he speaks this way sarcastically about entertainers in general. Agree or disagree with his politics, using the word racist for all criticism is misuse of the word and belittling the true meaning of true racism. Stick to the real issues and don’t get sidetracked everyone. We are all smarter than that.

  • lillymckim

Who’s the racist? Ice-T is the one who said “we have to protect ourselves from the police”
Rush said, “Tyranny doesn’t come from media figures, or actors” Thats racist?
Ones skin color is never the issue with Rush.
He was impressed because he knows your a liberal “actor” and liberals wouldn’t give two hoots about tyranny if it meant passing gun control.Rush may be many things to many people but racist isn’t one of them.
Good grief what is wrong with people?

  • SuperstionQueen

According to the transcript, he was impressed someone in Hollywood knew a truth that the false progressive narrative doesn’t put out there. But as usual, ANYTIME you have anything to say that offends someone of another color, it is because they are racist, nothing else, right?? And note in his rant regarding Rush being a racist, it had the negative effect of PROVING how many racists side with him. They show their true colors each and every time. BACKFIRE!

  • TugboatPhil

“Rush Limbaugh said he was impressed I knew the word ‘tyranny’… He’s a racist piece of shit.”

Uh, probably not. Like me, he probably was surprised that you aren’t a complete dumb arse like you portray yourself to be. But in the future, I’ll honor your wishes and speak to you as I would to a child.

    • kelly9107

Keep up the good work Rush. The race card is all these folks have. But they have wore it out on one side and cant hide it on the other side.

  • twolaneflash

Tracy Marrow, Crips gang name Ice T for reciting the writings of Iceberg Slim, is an admitted felon, whose crimes include pimping women while in the Army in Hawaii, dealing drugs, and multiple bank robberies. Why should anyone idolize such a person given celebrity and riches for nothing more than a foul mouth?

  • Tiger184

I heard Rush today and the way I took it was he was surprised to hear Ice-T support the 2nd Amendment the way he did. I, too, was surprised at the way Rush ‘said’ it, but I truly don’t think he meant it as criticism of Ice-T. It was meant to be critical of all the OTHER entertainers that have no sense of what this country is all about.

Also, even in the transcript they put (interruption), which usually means that Bo Snerdley, his producer, said something to Rush in the off-air mic. Bo Snerdley is black. Read the transcript. Rush is actually agreeing with what was said to him by another person. “Yeah, he did. He knew the word “tyranny.””

If Bo Snerdley, who is black, was the one pointing out that Ice-T knew the word ‘tyranny’, is that racist?…

  • Maliheh Banoo

Instead of just agreeing with Ice-T, Rush Limbaugh had to question his intelligence because he is black.

    • Bumr50

Why do you assume he’s questioning his intelligence because he’s BLACK??

Rush assumes all Hollywood celebs are morons because most of them are, ESPECIALLY when they try to speak intelligently about politics.

It had NOTHING to do with color…but I assume you’re the real racist by insinuating it. Keep playing “race detective” and hearing your so-called “dog whistles.” After all, who am I to question a woman of color about race?? You’re CLEARLY judge, jury, and executioner on the subject…

I feel sorry for you, going through life with that self-built chip on your shoulder and wearing your race-colored glasses.

      • Maliheh Banoo

if i wanted a teabaggers perspective i would ask for it.

        • Shelby is a Patriot

You’re on a conservative site, oh bright one. Funny, I don’t recall anyone on here personally asking for your opinion, and yet we got it anyway. If I wanted a zombie’s perspective, I would ask for it. That about right? Hypocrite. =) Thanks for playing.

      • Maliheh Banoo

        white trash

        • Bumr50

          Aw, come on now.

You came HERE and thought you would just drop a turd and leave.

Think of me as the cold splash of water on the underside of your leg!

  • NCRelite

Aww kind of ruined Ice-T’s brilliance on the 2nd amendment. It’s a wash.

  • Tim Johns

I like Ice-T on that cop show but then, as with many in his field, he opens his mouth.Yeah it’s all peaches and cream that he is for the 2nd amendment but man, his last sentence in that interview was something along the lines of “You can never have justice on stolen land”.
Ahh well, best wishes anyhow Ice-T.

PS: If you actually think Limbaugh is a racist then you really don’t have a clue.

  • Keith Fleury

Must be Ice-T failed to listen to Rush the other day when former Washington Post writer William Raspberry died. Raspberry called Rush a bigot in one of his columns without ever having heard his broadcast in full. Because of the backlash the column caused, Raspberry admitted he hadn’t listened and decided he would. He then decided to listen and in another column retracted what he had previously written. It’s easy to throw these words around when you don’t listen or your opinion is fully ingrained.

  • larry

First word out of a liberals mouth, “racist” second word, name calling…real brilliant,

  • Sifu Richard Whittle

“Tyranny” is, after all, a multi-syllable word. And since that long word is not “motherfucker” it stands to reason that one would be impressed that someone like “Ice T” ( a man named after a common beverage) would make an attempt to utilize it’s meaning in a sentence. Of course he went on to show his true colors when he reverted to his natural vulgarity and single-syllable vocabulary when describing his feeling about Rush Limbaugh. Mr Limbaugh is not a racist, nor was he criticizing Ice-T (although I think “Sunny Delight” would have been a better stage name) he was simply excited to see someone of his base caliber try to use English in a manner in which he is clearly unaccustomed.

    • Shelby is a Patriot

      Stop yelling at me! ;(

  • Jacob

Ice T the gutter rat. Filthy bastard should have been drive by-ed a long time ago.

  • Shelby is a Patriot

A grown man that calls himself “Ice-T”? I wouldn’t have expected him to know the word, either.

  • Phil1957

Rush Limbaugh is not a racist, unless just being white and commenting sardonically makes a person a racist. The truth is most of the ones who make this claim are the ones who demonstrate that they are racist. I saw the interview that Ice-T had and he was doing the same thing that Rush Limbaugh does so well. Although I am not a fan of rap, I have always really liked him on Law & Order. It’s disappointing that he chooses to slander Mr Limbaugh when all he really had to do was laugh and appreciate the fact that he was actually being paid a compliment for how he handled the interviewer. He owes Mr. Limbaugh an apology.

  • Reno Rivers

Observe always what comes forth from a liberal tongue after living their whole life in servitude to those superior to them.

This phoney-baloney singer called rapper proved he has an inferior complex since a child and never outgrew due to liberalism.

Granted he became rich exploiting blacks with his hate raps and now richer doing a liberal fake cop show, but he is still feeling and showing it well that he has felt like a piece of shit all of his 54 years of living.

It was a good rehearsed answer in that interview, except for the part of “police”.

It’s militia not police. Police is a city/town security guard protecting and serving all of us and enforcing state and city laws.

He does not know what tyranny means nor police and militia. What an idiot.

    Reno Rivera — that’s right!
