Colorado shooter described himself as 'middle of the road' politically

Via TMZ, James Holmes described himself on Internet dating site as “middle of the road” politically and an agnostic. To the dismay of some liberals, he didn’t say anything about Rush Limbaugh or the TEA Party. (Sorry, Brian Ross!)  To the dismay of some conservatives, he didn’t mention Occupy San Diego or the U.N. Small Arms Treaty. Click here to see Holmes’ full profile.

Those dang independents and middle of the roaders, they are the problem with this great country.

Sorry could not hold back. LOL

    • Rick Hall

No the problem is the right and the left tearing each other up all the time never working together. It’s like the playground at a kindergarten.

      • SuperstionQueen

No, it’s the PEOPLE in society who are tearing each other apart and not joining together. To fight the politicians’ fights emboldens their every move. As for compromise in Congress, every time a “compromise” is made, it’s either on principles or money. Both destroy OUR freedom every time. I prefer representatives who do not compromise. My freedom and livelihood are not on the table so that people can be happy at the illusion of our representatives playing “nicely” in the sandbox. Please stop being disillusioned that the Congress should play nice. Every decision they make affects you.

      • A Willful Boy

There is no working with the left. They have always been fighting an incremental battle to undermine our rights. Now that The Right is finally standing up, we’re being cast as not willing to compromise. The time for crossing the aisle is long gone – its time to fight fire with (figurative) fire.

  • Guest

On the top of his profile page, it says: Will you visit me in prison. (Shudders.)

    • Jеrrу Thоmрsоn

His fellow inmates want to “pay him a visit” but the guards won’t let them.

  • Cynni

Middle of the road = I haven’t a clue what it’s all about anyway.
It was an answer to a question that he was asked and felt like he had to answer.

    • Jеrrу Thоmрsоn

Middle of the road = I’m not expressing my political opinion because I want dates, and I don’t want half of them to reject me out of hand.

  • Joel A. Edge

That’s odd. Saw the very same profile a few days ago linked to another article. Under smoking, it had ‘I’d rather not say’. Different now? Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.

    • Joel A. Edge

My bad. That was on his ‘adult friend finder’ where he posted ‘prefer not to say’. That picture is from that. He was a busy little psycho.

      • Jеrrу Thоmрsоn

There’s been no indication on his online profiles or his interactions with other people leading up to the murder that he’s insane. If you compare his profile to any other profile on that site, it looks normal. Ditto his other profiles. The “I think I’m the Joker” thing is a cover. It’s either his way of faking insanity to try to get a lesser sentence, or it’s covering up something else.

        • Netmilsmom

Vampire, YOU win! I thought the same thing.
If he is the Joker, why is his hair red and not green?

  • A Willful Boy

I’ll take it a step further than Cynni. “Middle of the road” is what liberals call themselves when they’ve deluded themselves into thinking they’re reasonable. Kinda like how Bill Maher thinks he’s a libertarian.

    • Jennifer Turner Fournier

Exactly…vast majority of them will honestly call themselves “moderates” because they’ve fallen for the fallacy that the only other thing to be is “extremist”. In fact, there is no such thing as “moderate”. On any given issue, you’re either on the left or the right. The irony is that they mush together inconsistencies in thought so they can cling to some notion of being “reasonable”.

  • BeeKaaay

And of course his politics are not mentioned. If he were a right winger, the MSM would do a 24/7 expose of how evil right wingers are.

    • DB1954

They going to make him into one anyway.

    • SuperstionQueen

They already tried obviously to put the finger on another guy ASAP. They couldn’t succeed with Jared in AZ and thought they would jump to this conclusion. Most likely, “middle of the road” means uninvolved and uninformed. He didn’t want to say either of those things, so why not pretend to be in the middle where you don’t have to have an opinion on any of it?? At that age, MOST people have no idea what is going on in politics or across the country. What it comes down to is he is a mentally disturbed individual who snapped for a reason I am sure we will find out once the left stops trying to pin him down politically and blame the right for his actions.

  • Voting Female

Safe political statement. Guess he knew enough not to let politics eliminate any chances of getting laid. I saw reports the contributed to Obama’s 2008 campaign.

    • CT

But a supporter of Obama is the new normal. Unless you ARE normal, which it isn’t.

  • Jеrrу Thоmрsоn

Obviously he wouldn’t mention Occupy San Diego or the UN Small Arms Treaty. #1 it was on a dating site, you go there to get laid not talk politics with women, and #2 if you want to shoot up a place to get guns banned you don’t tell people that’s why you’re doing it.

  • Danny Eller

Hundreds of people there and not one brave soul with a gun?

Just one… Just one… good person with a gun could have stopped this horror.

When are we going to learn that when you have only seconds to live the Police are minutes away?

We need to stop criticizing those that take action against evil doers. Those that do are as responsible for the next disaster as those committing the crime.

Like the once great countries of Europe already have, we are turning into a Nation of cowards and several of the posts here in this blog show how far those that would have us abrogate our liberties for Security will go. How they will latch on to every tragedy to further the emasculation of American Society. They forget that history time and time again shows how wrong they are.

The argument should not be about guns. It should be about why no one out of hundreds took action against the shooter. We have emasculated our men in this Nation to the point that it is a rare case that there will be one in a crowd of hundreds willing to fight evil.

It has been only a little over 10 years that the true heroes of Flight 93 taught us the harsh lesson that to defeat evil we as individuals must be willing to take action. What a decrepit society we have become that we have forgotten such lessons so quickly.

    • SuperstionQueen

Danny—please don’t pull an EBERT. No one took action against him because the theater had a strict NO GUNS policy that go figure, law abiding citizens chose to abide by!!! Please inform yourself before going on a mile long rant. While I know your heart is in the right place, the bottom line is you are blaming society here for abiding by the theater’s policy.

      • Danny Eller

With or without a gun men should have mobbed the killer. My main point is still valid. Our country has been emasculated.

We demean those that take action to stop evil while evil is doing harm. We call them want-a-be cops, vigilantes and idiots.

A similar thing happened at Ft Bragg with the murderer using almost the exact type of firearms. But the difference there was that a few UNARMED brave Soldiers mobbed him resulting in only one dead out of hundreds there.

Another difference is not the training of the brave Soldiers but their mentality… a willingness to risk personal safety to confront evil. That’s what is missing in our regular society… not training.

Oh yeah. We’ve been emasculated over the years. We are pansies compared to that generation that let the president be MURDERED in a theater. Who was that, was it…Lincoln? Yeah, when Lincoln was shot everyone got out their pocket derringers and shot the man full of holes. Wrong. Major Rathbone fought Boothe, but got the worst of it. He shouted to the whole theater “stop that man,” but still Boothe was able to get away. At that point Boothe was for all intents and purposes armed with only a knife since he wasn’t carrying a “repeater.” So a whole theater did basically nothing while he escaped after shooting a gun and murdering the president. They didn’t mob him, and he even stole a horse when he left. Boothe wasn’t armed with semi automatic weapons and riot gear.

        • Bubba Jag

Oh, and were the guys of flight 93 emasculated? We don’t dare demean them. We really don’t. And we don’t demean anyone else who stands up against evil either. It offends me to hear you say what you say behind the anonymity of a social network… those people that died didn’t die because they didn’t have enough guts. They died because a guy in riot gear filled them full of lead until his assault rifle jammed. There is a well defined line between courage and stupidity. Charging a guy with automatic weapons and full riot gear is in the later category. Are you not aware that military men died in this slaughter?

    • Mary Garrison

i think the odds were against anyone trying to over take the guy,,,,,he did not have just 1 weapon….and all were scared s–tless…..reaction is to get away

      • Danny Eller

Doesn’t matter that the odds were against them… When confronted by such evil true men put their safety aside and try and save the innocent.

I spent 25 years in the Army and am a veteran of Panama, Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the years I looked my family in the eyes three different times and each time not thinking but knowing that I would never see them again, I still turned and got on the damn plane.

I should not be considered something special. There was a time when that was the expected thing to do and being chastised was reserved for those lacking the courage to do what is right.

Now we belittle and denigrate those with the courage to confront evil. We call them want-be-cops, vigilantes and idiots…

There is a cancer in America… A cancer of our Nation’s soul… and it has nothing to do with guns.

middle of the road politically, just like CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NPR, NBC, Soviet era TASS news agency, & Soviet era Pravda.

  • jpenrod

The only way for evil to triumph, is for good peolple to do nothing.
