Rep. Cleaver: Romney shouldn't criticize Obama in front of a black audience

Today’s lesson in race card logic comes to us courtesy of Congressional Black Caucus chairman Emanuel Cleaver. Here’s how he reacted to Romney’s criticism of Obamacare while delivering a speech at the annual NAACP convention:

Video via The Washington Examiner:

Such is life under Obama’s post-racial presidency. Apparently a white candidate must never “go there” when speaking to a black audience about a black opponent’s policies. It’s okay to talk about Obamacare, just not to “this audience.”

Would Rep. Cleaver would prefer that Romney lie? Does he think black Americans need to be pandered to and spoon-fed liberal pablum instead of hearing what Romney’s candidacy is really about?

Nothing racist about that. No siree.

Conservatives on Twitter tried to puzzle out how Rep. Cleaver’s logic might apply to other situations.

This tweet just might blow Rep. Cleaver’s mind.

Hey, Rep. Cleaver, we’ve got news for you:

  • Grumpa Grumpus

Right off the top of my head:
    tweeted to

Even shorter Cleaver: Lacking Worship of Obama is Racist!

  • cscape

Mitt was criticizing Obama’s WHITE HALF…… is that OK?

  • driveswift

He said don’t talk about repealing Obamacare, not general criticism of Obama. This is a really stupid post. He said A-As have embraced the health care plan because it has given 5.5 million African Americans access to preventative services they would otherwise not have gotten – he was talking POLICY not RACE. G-d this site is awful.

    • Tom Puterbaugh

…that someone else must pay for. Why wouldn’t they like that? After all, A-A families have generations long history of government dependancy courtesy of misguided liberal policies.

    • MirrorKrys

And who is he to tell anyone what they can or cannot talk about? Doesn’t he prefer honesty? Those O-care statistics sound suspect to me. A-As have embraced the plan because they were told to by their “leaders”. Public education not being up to par in economics or anything else.

    • Kevin Miller

So the esteemed members of the NAACP are offended by probably the most important issue in the upcoming election? I seriously doubt that. Maybe they should be offended that Obama chose not to attend….

    • Vernelle Massey

Other races also want our government to enslave them for all their needs and wants to be given in return. We just want the Blacks to wake up and help us stop the Master from taking away our freedoms. So many people are willing to give up this freedom and they do not care what price they have to pay. Our black and white ancestors paid with thier lives for this freedom! We are giving away this power to a government that has abused it’s authority with corruption and deception. Why would anyone give control over all aspects of one’s life to these kind of people?

  • John Shea

Rep Cleaver, thank you for today’s -dumbest thing ever said.

  • douchie

If you try to wean a box full of kittens, they are going to let you hear it. Nevertheless it’s the right thing to do, especially when the milk supply is dwindling.

  • Teritd

It is scary when a black president cannot be criticized but a white president can. This does not look promising for our republic.

  • Keith W. Charles

Obama shouldn’t criticize our country while in foreign contries, in front of our enemies or friends. What about that, Black Caucus???

  • Sdman

All the blacks that want want it because they know they will not have to pay for it!All they want are hand out’s!Tell them to work for a living and i don’t mean selling drugs and being a thug!

  • labillyboy This is what that audience is all about… Obamacare fits into the model nicely…

  • labillyboy

Obamacare is just an extension of the Welfare society that maintains black victimhood status. NAACP owes it’s existence to this status and reasonably opposes any suggestion that it change.

  • David Edward Smith

Those who play the race card ARE the racists.

  • radjahshelduck

I’d use the analogy that we shouldn’t criticize President Obama in front of other White Sox fans, but actually that wouldn’t matter because most of them are too drunk to comprehend what was said.

  • Baghdad Iraq

How about we just leave the blacks out and commit to the Mexicans ? 97% of blacks will vote Demon-rat anyway… A-Hole (C)Beaver is a TOOL – just like BS and his little dog bit*h Butten… Master plan for BS – have all the illegals to be citizens by NOVEMBER and vote for him, food stamps, medicare/medicaid, ACLU, AFL-CIO, the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Green Party, the Black Panthers, CAIR, Muslim Brotherhood, United Nations, and of course the destruction of the Constitution (like BS, Peloski, Clinton, Butten) have been doing for the last three years (Peloski, Clinton, Butten) for much longer… Comments ?

  • MirrorKrys

The Congressional Black KKKaucus is a race based organization that does not belong in Congress – Congress people should not be grouped by color. Who elects these fools or is there lots of voter fraud in those districts?

  • BeeKaaay

Leftwingwackos always say “SHHH! YOU NOT ALLOWED TO TALK!” if you dare to disagree with them.

  • Grumpa Grumpus

The trolls complaining that Beaver Cleaver’s comment *wasn’t* about race:
Add up all that this empty head has said about people who disagree w/obamosiah. Then, notice this was said w/Romney was speaking infront of National Association of Allied Co-racist People.

But, even so, you don’t really need to add up everything Beaver said. Just one statement he’s repeated endlessly: “The only reason anyone could have to disagree w/the pResident is if they were uncomfortable with a black man in the White House.”

It therefore follows (NB: using more favorable rules than is ever granted conservatives…) that every opprobrious statement Beaver makes when BHO’s involved is a racist statement.

But then, what else is to be expected from a club whose only reason for continued existence is to enrich its leadership by promoting racism?

  • Virginia Mintanciyan Benemio

Obama is NOT the first Black president. He is the first MIXED RACE president. If I recall, his mother was as white as white can be. About Rep. Cleavers comment, ever hear of REVERSE racism? Enough already.

  • Virginia Mintanciyan Benemio

    Reverse racism at it’s best.

  • J.Milliscone

So many “reverse racism” calls…. I’m so tired of white people playing the
“reverse racism” card. God get over it! You don’t run everything and surprise surprise there’s no such thing as
“reverse racism”. It would be plain ol racism if it were real. Silly white people even have to make up their own special form of racism…. retards

    • DeBaliviere

“Retards”?!? Do you seriously want to inject the IQ of the average NAACP member into this discussion? #losing

      • J.Milliscone

So I say reverse racism is a retarded concept and instead of defending it, you try to compare groups? Sorry that’s the worst form of debate. You must not have a mature stance on the matter or you would judge it by its merits. Hey that sounds like the anit- affirmative action cry right there. Merit based….. PS Hashtags are for twitter

        • DeBaliviere

No one who wants a serious discussion leads off with an insult. That’s the worst form of debate. I’m under no more obligation to “defend” reverse racism than I am to “defend” the weather. It exists. Deal with it.

          • J.Milliscone

I can’t deal with something that isn’t real. (ie unicorns, zombies, reverse racism) You decided to reply so you must feel like there is something you can defend. Good luck with that

          • DeBaliviere

Game, set, match, DeBaliviere! Au revoir, denier!

          • J.Milliscone

            N’importe quoi

    • Vernelle Massey

Your so right! It’s just Racisim! All races all guilty of this! Oh, by the way, doesn’t our President look grand in his “new” clothes? Not all Blacks believe that they are inferior and must be taken care of by the Master, ie. the government.

  • Jim Cantelmo

So Obama shouldn’t criticize Romney in front of a white audience. Oh but wait, if we had an all white audience that would in itself be racist.

  • Joe Richards

Can anyone answer this rationally and logically consistent with the opposite feckless argument advanced by Many Blacks and Utopian Statist Whites?

    • Winghunter

They don’t do rational or logical, they’re psychotics:
Forensic Psychiatrist Explains the Madness of (Modern) Liberalism
“…The degree of modern liberalism’s irrationality far exceeds any misunderstanding that can be attributed to faulty fact gathering or logical error. Indeed, under careful scrutiny, liberalism’s distortions of the normal ability to reason can only be understood as the product of psychopathology. So extravagant are the patterns of thinking, emoting, behaving and relating that characterize the liberal mind that its relentless protests and demands become understandable only as disorders of the psyche. The modern liberal mind, its distorted perceptions and its destructive agenda are the product of disturbed personalities…”

  • celsma

awesome. still glad that not everyone is a moron.

My contribution: Intelligent people should not criticize unintelligent people in front of an unintelligent audience.

Well, let me criticize Mr. Cleaver in front of a multi-racial audience. You, Mr. Cleaver, are an idiot and a racist.

National Association for the Advancement of Continued Prejudice.

  • Nikechic619

You know what is racist? Not being smart enough to get first prize, but getting a reward for being second best and “smart for a colored person.” Stop giving me special treatment and rewards for being colored. Appreciate me for being human just like everyone else.

    • Jeff Adamo

      Great words Charlene.

  • CMS

It May have Something to Do with Romney’s Credibility When it comes to Minority Issues in Particular & Not Just a White Man Can’t Do Dat.

  • Clifford Wiesner

Blacks have been conditioned and enslaved by white politicians and their black lackey leaders to be especially sensitive to anyone who criticizes them or has the potential to make them aware of the fact that the Liberal Democrats have invented a new form of slavery known as “government entitlements”.

  • sb36695

Maybe the lack of criticism made Obama the colossal failure he is.

  • BobP

This is the same stupid guy who claims a white tea-party protester at the Capitol spit on him as he walked by, then later brings a security cop back to the “scene of the crime” and is unable to point out the guy when he was obviously standing right in front of him.
What a moron… OOOPS! Better not criticize a black guy. He might not be able to handle it.

  • Dale Lowry

Cleaver, just another ass in the Soetoros/Obama stable. How do these people look anyone in the eye?

    • Grumpa Grumpus

      @Dale Lowry
How do they look anyone in the eye?

This goes for all shades, from pink to yellow to brown to black… and I’ve watched it in action while during the late 1950s & the 1960s it happened more than anyone will admit. Whites AND Blacks turning in civil rights protestors, MLK, etc. We’d often leak 7 or 8 places he could reasonably be to nullify those who turn him in to the thugs.

And what would they turn in these leaders for?

Lots of head-pats from their masters.

Sorry, I’m somewhat upset. Events have conspired to return to mind fresh and crisp experiences from that part of my life.

  • Jersey1957

Well how does not know that Mitt was critisizing the white half? I mean really. They need to get a grip. What is he supposed to do, lie to the people and just say what they want to hear?

    • Vernelle Massey

Telling the people what they want to hear and not speaking the truth is how O bama won the election. Why wouldn’t people that cringe from the truth, want all candidates to do this? Anyone that loves the liar because they love the lie,
gets what they vote for- a liar! It would be insane to expect different.

  • Kathy Romp-Mitchel

Cleaver was a lousy mayor here in Kansas City. He ruined us just like Obama is ruining the country. Looks like reverse racism is ok, but let it turn back the other way and we will have lawsuits all over the place.
