We guess the hawking of George Clooney dinners here in America has lost its oomph. Maybe because Team Obama incessantly pimped Clooney out? Then snarled up traffic and shamelessly talked about others being “out of touch” while dining on $40,000 per plate dinners.
So now it is time to jet off to Europe.

The Obama campaign posted an invitation on its website Friday revealing that the presidential pal-in-chief will appear at a pair of Americans Abroad for Obama events Aug. 27 in Geneva, Switzerland. Clooney, who usually spends summers at his villa on Italy’s Lake Como, made a similar appearance across the Swiss border on behalf of then-candidate Obama during the run-up to the 2008 general election.
Charles Adams, co-president of the campaign’s European outreach effort, told the newspaper Tribune de Geneve that Clooney will address a crowd of about 150 at an evening reception, which will be followed by a more intimate — and expensive — dinner at which the star will be the guest of honor. Tickets for the latter event will go for $20,000 for singles and $30,000 for couples.
Oh, yeah, and maybe France … on Independence Day. There is yet another swanky Obama fundraiser planned for July 4th on the chichi Rue du Chevaleret. Twitter users are highly amused by the hypocrisy and by the President’s always totally out of touch moves.

Poor President Obama and his campaign are totally cash strapped, as he pitifully whined (and lied) about last week. Now he’s going to hit up the Europeans. Pesky Americans don’t have enough money, what with being out of work and living under a worsening economy and all. Geez Louise; can’t you just let President Obama finish his campaign?
