Hacked! Is the toaster still loyal?
Politico has suspended Joe Williams, the White House correspondent who tweeted a vulgar joke about Ann Romney and disgracefully claimed Mitt Romney only feels comfortable around “white folks.”
“Regrettably, an unacceptable number of Joe Williams’s public statements on cable and Twitter have called into question his commitment to this responsibility,” POLITICO’s founding editors John Harris and Jim VandeHei wrote in a memo to the staff. “His comment about Governor Romney earlier today on MSNBC fell short of our standards for fairness and judgment in an especially unfortunate way.”
Oh, sure. Lapdog media outlet Politico is all about fairness and high standards.
politi.co/O1SAcn – The last sentence fr this @politico statement by Harris & Vandehei re Joe Williams almost made me choke on my brkfst—

In the memo, Harris and VandeHei reminded staff that “POLITICO journalists have a clear and inflexible responsibility to cover politics fairly and free of partisan bias.”
Think Williams really “fell short” of Politico’s expectations? No. The editors simply couldn’t get away with ignoring “just a blogger” John Nolte and others in conservative new media who exposed Williams’ remarks.
The politico reporter wasn't suspended out of standards – it was due to conservatives rising up on Twitter. We know that. It's a new day.—

Nolte sums it up beautifully: “This is why God created Andrew Breitbart.”
Amen.
While Politico was forced to pay lip service to journalistic standards, the left side of the Twittersphere isn’t so concerned with pesky fairness. They’re outraged by the suspension of courageous truth-teller Joe Williams.
