Twitter suspends another conservative account; Update: Chris Loesch free, flag-spam prog brigade still loose; Update: Loesch suspended again; Update: @ChrisLoesch is back up and running

Just as with @FreeMarket_US last week, Twitter has suspended the account of conservative Chis Loesch. Chis is the husband of talk radio host and CNN contributor Dana Loesch and is very active on Twitter. Once again, Twitter’s reasons for suspending Chris’s account are not clear.

However, as @RBPundit and @lheal point out, it is likely due to liberals abusing Twitter’s system for reporting spam.

Dana Loesch and many others want answers from Twitter. Why did they suspend Chris Loesch’s account? Was the suspension due to liberals flag-spamming him?

Is Twitter working on a solution to keep liberals from abusing the spam submission system in the future?

Update: Due to a tidal wave of tweets #FreeChrisLoesch has trended worldwide.

We will update this post as more information comes in.

Welcome to the #twittergulag:

After a massive pushback tonight, Chris Loesch is free!

It’s not over yet. Coordinated flag-spamming is a problem that Twitter needs to address now and preemptively, not AFTER conservative accounts are targeted and taken down.

Second, Chris lost all of his followers. Help:

Were you a target of left-wing flag-spammers trying to take out conservative voices on Twitter. Twitchy will try and compile a list of unjustly suspended accounts. Please send your info (and as much documentation as possible that you were targeted) to or below in comments. Kudos to @shanewright22 and @benhowe for getting the ball rolling.

Standing our ground!

Update: 12:36am Unbelievable. Chris Loesch’s account has been suspended again.!/DustinLyle/status/196819694471225346

Chris’s crime? Defending his wife from vile, vicious, violent attacks.

#freechrisloeschagain is trending.

Update 1:23am Chris was back up again briefly, then suspended again.

We will have much more on the flag-spam abusers and Twitter’s p.r. problem.

Stay tuned.

Update: Twitter, you have a problem.

Update 4/30, 12:58 PM: Twitter has reinstated Chris Loesch‘s Twitter account.

Let’s hope Twitter has approved his account for good this time. Twitchy will continue to monitor what’s been going on and we will continue to hold Twitter accountable for its actions. Thanks to all of our readers for help and info!

  • DavidKramer

Hey, it got up to 2nd in trending worldwide, still around #4

    • Shaner5000

It would have been #1 if there weren’t a WWE pay per view happening, those things always trend!

  • SideTraKd

This has been happening to a lot of conservatives recently, and happened to my own account three times last week.  Successfully contested it, and never got an answer as to why it was suspended, beyond the original form email.

  • Scott Hicks

This is a very common practice by The Left. My account, @scottinnj was suspended last week the same way. When I finally got it reinstated, lo and behold, the entire timeline had been deleted. Way to go, @Twitter.

  • Brian Cates

Some guy tweeted Dana tonight saying if he heard she’d been raped & murdered he wouldn’t shed a single tear. How about suspending THAT guy?!/DBarberHotnuke/status/196745931079680001

follow me on twitter! @drawandstrike:disqus my blog:

    • Brian Cates

And @DBarberHotNuke has now taken his account off line to hide what he said to Dana Loesch.

  • Shane Wright

I have been researching this for hours since it happened to me last
night 20 minutes after I went on a Conservative tweet rampage. This is
    not an isolated incident.

    • Jaime Blakley

No, definitely not isolated.  Twitter needs to fix the ease of being able to Spam Report people they haven’t even interacted with. It’s ridiculous that they have been limiting conservative free speech on Twitter and no one does anything.

  • Jaime Blakley

I’ve been trying to get help from conservatives for over a week for this exact problem & none helped. There are liberals on here SpamReporting just because we’re conservative. I guess it pays to be connected. I hope at least something will finally be fixed now. I’m still suspended @jaimec25:twitter

  • Shane Wright

Does Twitchy only give props to celebs? I’ve been busting my balls for hours to get this story out there.

    • Michelle Malkin

Thanks, Shane, for all your work!! Like I said in DM, we try to stay on top of everything. Catching up with all your vigilant monitoring of the situation and will try and help as much as possible to work with you to get the suspended accounts restored. Standing together…

  • Trish Proulx

According to the email correspondence I had from Twitter with regard to the @killzimmerman account, their reason for not suspending the account was free speech.

    • Brian Cates

Twitter’s own rules say you cannot tweet personal info without permission.  Spike Lee & Roseanne Barr did exactly that when they tweeted street addresses. Wonder what Twitter had to say about that?

      • BeeKaaay

Oh, but those are leftwingwackos and Twitter is a leftwingwacko dominated organization who who gives them a pass.

      • Erick Brockway

Yeah getting the same. Looks like Chris is re-suspended for whatever reason. Twitter seems to be having a hard time making their minds up.

    • BeeKaaay

       Free speech for leftwingwackos only.

      • mzk1_1

Well, of course. That’s what they’ve always meant by “free speech”. I realized that long ago. Ask Ann Coulter.

  • Barack Hussein Sharpton

It’s the Liberal’s abusing twitter’s spam reporting system. They got me banned within two weeks of opening my account and it took a month to get my account back.

  • Jaime Blakley

Since @jaimec25:twitter is still suspended this is only way I have to communicate this. Feminists have organized Spam Reporting of conservatives. So far they are the ones I know about. Specifically after those UAWOW rallies, I got hateful messages and then was blocked. Also if you follow Sistertoldjah they will Spam/Block you. If you “invade” their hashtag they get angry and call it spam and report you. If you RT one of their tweets, they call it spam and report you. If you forward their conservative hit list, they report you. Lower profile conservatives are hardest hit because the blocks and spams hit us hardest.

    • Stan_1234

The same has happened to me.

  • Joanna

Suspending Chris Loesch’s account shows again on how far the cowardly left will go to silence you. If Twitter really is for free speech like they keep saying, then they would quickly resolve this and prevent it from happening again.

  • Joanna

Ah I see Chris is back. Good on twitter, but still they do need to fix the spam/suspension problem.

  • Jaime Blakley

It’s great if Chris is back but will you guys please help us little guys?

  • Paul Havemann

Time to update. According to @DLoesch, “Please RT suspended @ChrisLoesch account has been reinstated!”

  • Ben Bradley

“Is Twitter working on a solution to keep liberals from abusing the spam submission system in the future?” How about changing that to “…to keep PEOPLE from abusing…?” Abuse of reporting systems is bad no matter where it comes from or why.

    • SideTraKd

Because it’s the liberals that have been doing it, in a coordinated manor to get conservative accounts suspended.  Conservatives work to expose liberal looneytoons.  We want them to keep spouting their nonsense.  We’d never coordinate to silence them.

    • 1389

You have a point. Other nefarious groups of people, such as jihadis, might start doing the same thing if liberals are allowed to get away with this.

Conservatives don’t flag-spam, not even in retaliation; that’s not how we roll.

      • mzk1_1

I understand that anti-Israel people do organized banning in other places (facebook/YouTube?). The only solution may be to reply in kind; if Conservatives do it then it will be a scandal and someone will act.

        • BeeKaaay

           That’s how Nazis roll.

          • $24376261

National Socialism is the only kind of socialism right-winger like.

          • BeeKaaay

National Socialism is exactly what leftwingwackos like.  A big government, killing Jews, killing Catholics, hurting people who disagree with them.   It is a leftwingwacko wet dream.

          • BeeKaaay

National Socialism was implemented by leftists. There is no such thing as “right wing” socialism.

            Socialism is left wing only.

          • BeeKaaay

National Socialism was implemented by leftists. There is no such thing as “right wing” socialism.

            Socialism is left wing only.

Especially since leftists hate Jews and want Israel wiped off the map.

      • BeeKaaay

What about flag as bigoted?   Bigotry should not be allowed.

        •!/drew.gordon.4 Drew Gordon

Define ‘bigotry’? ‘Negative-stereotyping’, ‘prejudice’ or what?

‘Ideological differences should not be allowed’ is what you’re in fact stating.

Don’t you realise how (ironically) ‘bigoted’ your sentiment is? (Obviously not.)

I think that your stupidity is acceptable, though I probably wouldn’t bother defending your right to be stupid to the death tbh. Still defend it I would, the right to free-speech and all that.

          ‘Bigotry’ must be allowed.

          • BeeKaaay

So what you are saying is that if someone disagrees with you, the government or other organizations should punish them so as to make sure they are in line with your doctrine?

This is what leftwingwackos do. They are prejudiced against conservatives and seek to have them hurt by twitter in this case.

How is this different from when the KKK lynched republicans? That was an act of bigotry.

          •!/drew.gordon.4 Drew Gordon

Nope, that’s what you said – “What about flag as bigoted? Bigotry should not be allowed.” – or were you suggesting that ‘(the option to report/flag as) ‘bigotry should not be allowed”…?

I was saying that bigotry must be allowed (online/in print), I believe in free speech and all that – ‘hate-speech’ is oxymoronic as a concept (so I believe) etc. My ‘doctrine’ here is opposing censorship, whereas by your previous (‘bigotry should not be allowed’) statement you seemed to be promoting (the tolerance of) censorship.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood you, but my point was that complaining about ‘bigotry’ (and certainly ‘reporting’/’flagging’ posts as such) is ‘bigoted’ in itself. I would never ‘flag’ anything myself personally. I get ‘flagged’ invariably myself. I never agree with it.

I fail to see how you interpreted my post as ‘saying’ what you suggest I was ‘saying’ (‘government… organisations’ etc.)

I don’t believe anything should ever be censored for ‘majority’ adults.

          • BeeKaaay

My point is if Twitter is enforcing its rules against Conservative accounts by suspending them – then they should ALSO enforce their rules against bigotry. Either both or neither. Can’t choose between the two. Either the TOS applies or it does not.

Of course, I’m NOT saying conservative accounts violate the TOS unless Twitter interprets “hate speech” to mean “disagree with Marxism” then they’re way out of line into censorship TERRORtory.

          •!/drew.gordon.4 Drew Gordon

‘Censorship’ is inevitably going to be ‘unfair and unbalanced’, which is why I’m all against it (‘military secrets’/’shouting fire in a crowded theatre’-endangering lives-arguments notwithstanding), after all, one man’s ‘bigotry’ is only another’s subjectively-stereotypical ‘opinion’.

No speech can (truly) be ‘hate-speech’ (in my ‘common sense-logic’ opinion) as any act of communication from human to human, vile as it (superficially) may be, has the unspoken/unwritten subtext of “understand me(!)” within its message – a subtext which is principally ’empathic’ in nature – and as empathy and hatred are (practically) mutually-exclusive ‘hate-speech’ is (therefore) oxymoronic.

On the other hand, censorship, banning, flagging and reporting-posts is intrinsically ‘hateful’ (imo).

I guess it comes down to how much one is willing to ‘hate’ others – in my case I guess I’m as capable of ‘hatred’ as anyone else, just not quite enough to actually censor their free-expressions-of-speech (let them dig their own holes with their own stupid words I say!)

            Be well! :)

  • Jaime Blakley

Please don’t drop this just because @ChrisLoesch:twitter was reinstated.  There are lots of us. I’m still in #TwitterGulag and it’s lonely and boring here. @jaimec25:twitter

  • MShingleton

ug sorry @google-6c840c90c8db27be50cb009982469b6d:disqus happened to me for a week and I almost gnawed my right index finger off trying not to click on my account. Ouch!

  • BeeKaaay

Evidently all his followers were deleted.   That was done by Twitter ON PURPOSE.

Remember, leftwingwackos HATE free speech.   Because in their eyes, if you have free speech, you can disagree with leftwingwackos.   And that, to leftwingwackos, is the biggest evil in the world!

  • Shane Wright

All, I actually broke this story With Ben Howe’s help earlier (Despite my snub from Twitchy) I have been compiling a list of conservative accounts that have been suspended for no apparent reason. Tweet any helpful info you have please.

  • The Sanity Inspector

    “Twitmo”, ha!

  • JohnKettlewell

If you think there’s a problem, then you need to show them that’s what it is. Figure out how yet?

  • SideTraKd

Don’t forget how many people with far less followers than Chris that liberals have gotten suspended with the report/auto-suspend “feature”.  They need to be freed, too, and this practice needs to be stopped!

  • Pauseit

I have been suspended twice. Once when tweeted to Media Matters and again when I defended Dana Loesch against a vile attack by DBarberHotnuke.  There was not a violation against Twitter rules. I am still suspended.

    • Michelle Malkin

What is your twitter account name?

      • Pauseit

  • SideTraKd

I’ve been suspended three times.  No violations of Twitter rules, and I contested it successfully all three times.  They never could tell me why my account was suspended beyond the generic auto-generated response.  My Twitter account is barely a week old.  They’re targetting accounts with fewer followers because it’s easier to get those suspended, and those are the ones less likely to contest it.   (@SideTweetz)

  • Mike

I get “User suspended” for @ChrisLoesch right now. Did they resuspend him?

  • tdpwells

Two can play that game, you know. Maybe twitter will start enforcing the rules when it starts affecting their liberal buddies. Start flagging them for spam and see what happens.

  • Zefal

They pull this on the comments section on youtube. We need to do it back at them.

  • Mat

I’m telling you, if there were a mass spam report on @Twitter and @Support:disqus, they would be quick to fix it.

Oh, that gives me an idea…

    • Bob Barr

I wonder how @Twitter would respond if #Twitterhasbeenhacked were trending. They wouldn’t want that to spread. But that’s exactly what’s happening.

  • Joe Dunn

My account was also suspended about half an hour ago @JoeDunn8.

  • palinista1

Twitter suspended my account nomore_silent yesterday. No reason has been given yet, but I’m pretty sure liberals reported me as spamming/flagging for retweeting and replying too much.

  • koam

Shouldn’t @Twitchy headlines be short enough to share on @twitter?

  • koam

    Solidarity!  #FreeChrisLoeschAgain

  • AJCalvarese

They got my @AJCalvarese account too and twitter has still not fixed it. I lost all my posts and all of my followers. I had to start over as @AJuliusC and am struggling to gain my followers back. Does twitter not check to make sure the account is actually spam before suspending it? On another note, I need all the followers I can get at

Where is it written Twitter – or any other social media site for that
matter – can’t filter tweets and/or accounts based on ANY criteria THEY

  • David Hill

Is there any evidence that it’s a liberal plot, or is this a ‘because I said so’ argument?

  • BeeKaaay

More proof that leftwingwackos hate free speech.

  • mzk1_1

    I’m afraid I didn’t understand your point.

  • mzk1_1

I didn’t understand what you were getting at. (Second try.)

  • Joe Dunn

Thanks for all your help Michelle!

  • EZ2TrollU

Vote for President Obama in 2012!

  • axion101

Well, Twitter is doing something about it. As of today. Subculture no longer exists and feminazislut (lovely name) has been suspended. So give them some credit.

  • F-ing Conservative

I was tweeting about Bret Kimberlin and was SUSPENDED FROM TWITTER

awww, aren’t you precious?! your mama must be so proud, having raised such a fine specimen as yourself.

anyway, are you really in a position to say someone else has a “troll face”? seems to me that you’re the one who’s obviously trolling right now.

  • BeeKaaay

There goes the myth of the tolerant, loving, caring leftwingwacko.   Poof!   Proven false right there.
