Smart set wrongly claims Twitter not for serious politics, mocks ‘non-serious distractions’

Oh, the Twitter police! It is especially hilarious coming from an incessant tweeter. We can’t fathom the hubris it takes to mock others for wasting time on Twitter … while tweeting incessantly.

It is also a case of Smarter Than You (TM).

Having fun while trying to defeat Leftist false narratives isn’t serious enough for some, you see. We silly rubes need to grow up and learn how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That is what smart people do.

Exactly. If we all don’t have some fun once in a while, we’ll end up curled up in a corner, weeping. And Twitter is not a serious political outlet? Really? Then why did Mitt Romney include Twitter the other day when discussing campaign strategy?

“We are behind when it comes to commentators on TV. They tend to be liberal,” Romney said. “Where we are ahead or even is on twitter and on the Internet.”

Perhaps the oh-so-serious thinkers should actually think once in a while. Or, you know, read up on things. Start with South Korea. Their elections may have upset wins due to what? That’s right. Twitter.

Americans on Twitter agree.

Bingo. When the media stops inventing narratives out of whole cloth in order to push Leftist political agendas, maybe we won’t have to push-back so hard. We won’t count on that happening and, in the meantime, we can have some fun while we’re at it. It’s called multi-tasking. We “non-serious wankers” are good like that.

Smarty pantsers need not apply. Just step aside and let the Happy Warriors take care of business. You’re welcome.

Clearly you care, Doug. But why are you wasting your time on things you don’t care about? You know, like Twitter.!/JasonBWhitman/status/192679428764073984

Whoops! Not so smart, huh?

  • Brenda Xtravaganza

In what way is #failaconis smart?

  • MartiPul

The veddy veddy serious commentators do not get that one way the Left has won in the past is by controlling the *cultural* narrative.  I.e. what is cool, what is edgy, what is FUNNY, what is trendy.

Wresting some of that away from them is important in the long term. Also, fun!

  • Soopermexican

“Twitter is not a serious political media outlet” next up: “you know facebook isn’t the same as actually being with friends” and “seeing a picture isn’t the same as being there”… thanks genius.

  • Pablo

“Twitchy is still a thing people waste their time on?”

Still? After, what, a couple of months? If that? Amazing.

    • spot_the_dog

He’s so cool, he was bored with it before it was even invented!

    • Alex

From the guy who killed OTB in less than a month, that’s either a lack of self-awareness or sweet, sweet irony.

  • Quilly Mammoth

“All in the Family”, “MASH” were all humor used to direct the Left’s narrative. New venue for a new age but using humor to skewer the opposition is immortal.

  • Zilla of the Resistance

Who the heck is Doug Mataconis and why does he think anyone would care how smart he thinks he is?  Whoever he is, I don’t think he’s nearly as important as he seems to think that he is.
    #failconis indeed!

  • spot_the_dog

Better to be called a non-serious wanker than a serious wanker, I always say.

It’s sad that Mr. Mataconis would appear to be the latter.  He wants to watch he don’t go blind doin’ that.

  • Dustin Alfortish

Um… In that context, I think it is “their.”

    • yestradamous

See the last tweet. Usage is incorrect. You are looking at the one above it.

  • Dustin Alfortish

Hate to defend #failaconis, but I think he used the right “their”

  • Dustin Alfortish

But he messed it up in the tweet before, gotcha.

  • Lizbuddie

Haha. Poor, Doug. He’s just cantankerous. He’s a pessimist. He can’t help it. I do disagree with him on this. I’ve seen people do some serious thinking on Twitter. And I’ve even seen people folks’ perspectives change.

  • vetgal1970

I hope he contacted #attackwatch and let them know that the Obama campaign wankers that tweet under his handle are making him look unserious
