Minnesota Senate passes Voter ID amendment; progressives up in arms, launch boycotts

Just in this afternoon:

Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison is not happy with the GOP effort to prevent fraud and ensure election integrity:

Hyperbole much?

We can hear the U.S. Department of Justice monitors amassing forthwith.

A proposal requiring Minnesotans to show photographic identification before voting passed through the state Legislature today.

The proposed constitutional amendment passed the Senate, 35-29, this afternoon, hours after the House passed it, 72-57. Voters will decide the issue in the Nov. 6 election.

The proposed constitutional amendment would require all voters to show a government-issued photo ID to vote. The state would be required to provide free IDs to those who need them.

Those backing the bill said it will protect against voter fraud and improve Minnesota’s election system.

“This bill takes that integrity one step further,” said Senate Majority Leader Dave Senjem, R-Rochester.

Democratic officials Wednesday launched a two-pronged attack on states with new laws requiring identification before voting, the highlight being a call to boycott Coke, Walmart and others that back a leading organization pushing for voter ID laws.

Coke was quick to react to the boycott threat, pulling support from the targeted group just five hours after it was called.

That’s Scott Newman, not Keith Ellison.

mn is the home of many wacko progressives and we will have to fight to have this made into law, and even if it passes in the general election by the majority of minnesotans, I’m sure that we will never see it enforced. We have WAY too many elitist progressives in power and too many timid, lazy Republicans to stop them. This state is an embarrassment to me with the way Franken was elected and not to mention Ventura. We are controlled totally by the Metro area liberals.

Minnesota is a state run by left wing liberals.

If we could figure out how to cleanup the election processes in Henn and Rams county, the conservative OUTSTATE will again bring back sanity.

Being a fellow Minnesooootan, I feel your pain.

Pornography peddler Franken and Gov Back-Peddle….
two of the biggest embarrassments to ever come from The Gopher State, with Paul Wellstone  a close second.

You need an ID to buy cigarettes, beer and to drive. Nothing wrong with making people have an ID to vote.

No more illegals or dead people voting Democrat. Hooray!

Never liked Coke anyways. Guess their biggest clients must be people who don’t want to be identified. Wonder Why?

Putting aside the left wing, Marxist, communist talking points in regards to voter ID, why would anyone with an IQ above a glass of coke be against the need for a state ID card, never mind a voter ID card.

Wait a minute, these scoundrels protesting the voter ID cards claiming it creates a hardship for the underprivileged. These underprivileged are on food stamps, or some other giverment program, they need ID to receive those bennies…what’s the difference?
