Regarding Tom Hanks and that new cinematic Obama commercial

Doug Powers at

President Barack Obama’s re-election machine on Thursday released a two-minute trailer for what they have billed as a 17-minute documentary that makes the case that he deserves a second term. From the giant American flag fluttering over a cheering crowd in the opening scene to the dramatic recounting of the Navy SEAL raid that took out Osama bin Laden to Tom Hanks’ narration, “The Road We’ve Traveled” is undeniably a state-of-the-art pitch for the president.

It could be the first campaign video to feature two Academy Award winners: Hanks, and director Davis Guggenheim, who helmed Al Gore’s Oscar-winning “An Inconvenient Truth.”
Hanks’s narration begins: “How do we understand this president and his time in office? Do we look at the day’s headlines? Or do we remember what we, as a country, have been through?” Words onscreen promise “a film about determination and progress,” “told by those who saw it happen” as Obama made “tough decisions” to confront “historic challenges.”

The inclusion of the director of Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” came about because the producers sought somebody to guide the project who was comfortable working in the myth, fantasy, science fiction, action, true crime and disaster genres.

Arguably more effective, and produced on a much lower budget, would be ShePAC’s video about Obama and the lefty misogynists:

I got that via Ace, who has an excellent rant to go with it.

Is there a 1/2 ounce of brains in Hollywood?  Or are they all sycophants?  This tripe about being saved from a second great depression is pure nonsense.  Gee, by that measure I could claim that I saved my entire family from a gruesome fate of starving to death.

No amount of propaganda by the regime is  going to work because ground reality is totally different than the 2008 empty suit.

Tom – you have still have a lot of wealth to re-distribute don’t you?  Lead by example – give it all away until you are down to the median level of wealth in the world. then you can feel better about yourself.

I gave up on Tom Hanks when he insisted on starring in The DaVinci Code.  Why?  Quite a few fans were begging him not to; he could have any attractive award-winning role he wanted; the picture turned out not to be good artistically or at the boxoffice.  I don’t require sports figures or entertainers to agree with me in order to enjoy their performances, but this crossed the line into blasphemy.  Don’t  want to start up that old (but serious) argument, but there you have it.
